For Boston

Oh Boston.

I had a few dreams as a child.  I always wanted to attend college in Boston as a little girl growing up in Maine.  I wanted to get married on a beach.

I attended Boston University and lived in that great city for five years.  I met my husband during Game 1 of the 2003 World Series due to our mutual love of the Red Sox and we got married on a beach on Cape Cod.

While I'm not a native Bostonian, Boston is my adopted hometown.  There is something about that skyline, the Pru, the Citgo sign and Fenway that warms my heart in a way only your hometown can.  As anyone who has lived in New England knows, Boston is the region's heart and soul.  Today, my heart is a little broken.

For Boston!

  1. What a sad turn of events. Our hearts go out to all the people who were there. What is this world coming to?

  2. I feel the EXACT same way! Where did you grown up in Maine? I went to school 20 min outside of Boston. It's so scary to think I have been going to the Patriot's Day Red Sox game and Marathon for years...I could have easily been there.

    1. I lived in Auburn!

Patriots Day was always such a happy day in the city and it's so sad to think it might never be the same.

  3. You know I picked a winner when she posts the BC fight song when she's a BU alum. Such a sad day, I feel so blessed to know that all of my family and friends are ok.

    For Boston, for Boston
    'tis wisdom's earthly fame
    for here are all one
    and our hearts are true
and the towers on the heights
    reach the heavens own blue.
    for Boston, for Boston
    'til the echoes ring again

    1. Yes, it was 2004 and not 2003. I just can't believe it hasn't been quite 10 years, babe!

BC may suck but they have one helluva appropriate song for how I was feeling today. :X

  4. It's inconceivable to imagine there are some that think they have to make their statement by killing and maiming innocents.....
